Sample Specification Sheet

This is a sample of a typical Canadian skylight specification report you will recieve from the Skylight Doctor done to ensure the correct Canadian skylight model / design that should be used and also to confirm proper execution of installation.

PART (1) - GENERAL

 

1.1 Related Work

 

 

A. Design and fabrication of VELUX skylights and sun tunnels.

 

B. Glazing material.

 

C. All related flashings.

 

D. Complete installation details.

1.2 Shop Drawings

 

 

A. Submit shop drawings in accordance with Section. (01300 - Shop Drawings, Product Data, Samples and Mock-ups)

 

B. Indicate size and description of components, materials, attachment devices, description of frame and finish, and construction details.

1.3 Performance Requirements

 

 

A. The Canadian skylight structure shall be designed to meet the requirements prescribed by the governing building codes.

 

B. ASTM and CGSB standards will be adhered to.

1.4 Warranty

See Warranty Certificate

 

1.5 Fabrication

 

 

A. Directly follow Canadian skylight manufacturers specifications and standards.

1.6 Approval

 

 

A. Skylights to have approval of National, Provincial and Municipal building codes.

PART (2) - PRODUCTS

 

2.1 Manufacturer

 

 

A. To be provided pending spec / plan / design.

2.2 Frame Finish

 

 

A. Class A - Aluminum - finshed to be: kynar 500 - clear anodized - duranar - duracron or as per consultants sample.

 

B. Glazing as per architects designation

2.3 Maintenance Data

 

 

A. Provide maintenance data for cleaning and maintenance of incorporation into manual specified in Section [01730 - Operation and Maintenance Manual].

PART (3) - EXECUTION

 

3.1 Installation

 

 

A. Install skylights in accordance with CAN/CGSB-63.14 and supplement as follows:

- Erect components plumb, level and in proper alignment.
- Ensure continuity of envelope air barrier and vapour retarder systems.
- Secure [ preformed curb assembly] [brake formed metal curb] to structure.
- Adjust and seal assembly with provision for expansion and contraction of components.
- Secure and seal frame professionally waterproof as per manufacturers instructions.

Performance Requirements

A.

Nation Evaluation Report NER - 550 - Model FCM fixed curb mount skylight to withstand dead and live loads caused by pressure and uplift of wind acting normal to plane of roof as tested in accordance with ICBO Evaluation Service Criteria AC-17 to a download pressure of 1.92 KPs - 5.79 KPa (40 - 121 psf) and an uplift pressure of 2.15 KPa - 5.27 KPa (45 - 110 psf) as measured in accordance with ANSI/ASTM E 330

B.

Limit member deflection to flexure limit of glass with full recovery of glazing materials.

C.

System to accommodate, without damage to components or deterioration of seals, movement between I.G. unit and perimeter sealant.

D.

Air leakage through assembly limited to 1.02 L/s/m squared(0.2 cfm/ft squared) measured at a reference differential pressure across assembly of 75 Pa (157 psf) as measured in accordance with AAMA/WDMA/1600/IS7 and ANSI/ASTM E 283.

E.

Water infiltration: No water penetration noted when measured in accordance with AAMA/WDMA/1600/IS7 and ANSI/ASTM E 331 with a test pressure differential of 140 Pa (2.92 psf)

F.

Weep drainage system designed to channel water entering joints, condensation occuring in glazing channel, or migrating moisture occuring within system to exterior by means of sanoprene gasket with integrated condensation gutter.

G.

Thermal Performance: Tested, certified and labeled in accordance with NFRC 100 and 200 prodcedures, Model FCM has u-factor values of 0.40 and SHGC ratings of 0.34.

H.

Model FCM with impact glazing (0099 69): Tested and certified in accordance with ANSI/ASTM E 1886 and ANSI/ASTM E 1996-02

F.

Fall Protection: Model FCM with laminated glass (0074) tested to meet or exceed the intent of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.23(e)(8) for fall protection. Model FCM tested to 1400 ft/lbs with no glass breakage.
